SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah, March 5, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Undercover officers say they found 2.5 kilos of heroin at a residence in Sandy Thursday.
A probable cause statement from the 3rd District Court of Salt Lake County said Ernesto Alonso Pidadia-Medina, 40, is facing a charge of first-degree felony possession to distribute a controlled substance. He was transported to the Salt Lake County Jail. His bail has been set at $100,000.
“Pursuant to a narcotics investigation, an undercover officer placed an order of 3.5 ounces of heroin from the suspect,” the probable cause statement says.
That suspect, subsequently identified as Pidadia-Medina, arrived at 5400 South and Redwood Road, to complete the transaction.
The suspect was then arrested and found in possession of approximately five ounces of field-tested positive heroin. A subsequent search warrant at Pidadia-Medina’s residence in Sandy revealed approximately 2.5 kilos of field-tested positive heroin and
approximately $6,800 in U.S. currency.
After being read his Miranda rights, Pidadia-Medina admitted to distributing heroin.
Pidadia-Medina has been previously convicted of distribution in other states, has been previously deported and is an illegal alien in the U.S.
