Police: Weber County man booked on 10 felony charges for downloading lurid videos

OGDEN, Utah, Sept. 18, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Weber County man has been booked into jail on felony charges after an investigation identified his IP address as one that had downloaded illegal videos.

Brian James Coleman, 40, was booked into the Weber County Jail on 10 charges of  exploitation of a minor, a second-degree felony.

A probable cause filed in the case says that officer was investigating child pornography by monitoring software that identified the IP address that seemed to be downloading child pornography files through a peer-to-peer network.

The investigator requested materials from the suspect, and received a file containing 15 videos with child pornography featuring girls estimated to be ages 7 through 9.

Lasts month, the IP address was linked to Coleman, of Ogden, and his residence was searched after a warrant was obtained. Files of child pornography were found on his phone, the probable cause statement says.

Post Miranda, Coleman initially denied any involvement, but later admitted to viewing the videos, the probable cause statement says.

Coleman’s bail was set at $50,000.
