PARK CITY, Utah, April 6, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A woman was booked into jail after Summit County Sheriff officials say she tried to spit on and bite an officer responding to a domestic abuse call.
On Thursday, sheriff officers responded to the Silverado Hotel and the Canyons Ski Resort and contacted Amber Barron and her husband, Alphonzo Bell, with whom officers were familiar through previous calls, says a probable cause statement filed in the case.
Barron, 37, claimed no altercation had occurred, but the interviewing officer noticed dried blood on her right hand.
“Amber didn’t know whose blood it was or where it came from,” the statement says.
“Alphonzo had visible injuries on his face. Alphonzo denied any altercation occurred and stated the injuries on his face were from an accident that occurred in the swimming pool. Alphonzo’s injuries were not consistent with his story.”
A witness told officers that Barron was intoxicated and punched Bell in the face, the statement says.
“While I was speaking with Alphonzo, Amber began creating a disturbance and yelling at uninvolved persons outside the hotel,” the statement says, adding that another officer cuffed Barron and led her toward a patrol car when she spit at him, but failed to hit him with her saliva.
“A spit resistant hood was placed over Amber’s head,” the statement said, adding that while the officer attempted to seatbelt Barron into the patrol car, “she attempted to bite his arm.”
Barron was booked on suspicion of assault, intoxication, assault on a peace officer, propelling a bodily substance and interference with an arresting officer, all misdemeanors, and on disorderly conduct, an infraction.
Her bail was set at $4,730.
