OGDEN, Utah, June 4, 2025 (Gephardt Daily) -- Ogden City Fire and Riverdale Fire crews responded to a grass fire at about 9:47 p.m. Tuesday.
The fire was just off Interstate 15 near 31st street, a news release from Ogden City Fire says.
"People driving on the Interstate noticed flames and called 911," the statement says.
"Crews responded quickly and made access to a remote area to address the fire. Firefighters acted swiftly and aggressively to contain the blaze to less than an acre, the quick actions to surround the fire and prevent its growth kept the incident relatively small."
Fire mitigation work had been done in the area over the last couple of weeks, "and that work paid off to help contain the fire," the release says.
"We are grateful for the proactive approach from Ogden City Emergency Management and Ogden Fire to help prevent the spread of such fires."
Twenty-three firefighters from the two agencies responded, along with two engines, a ladder truck, an ambulance, a battalion chief, three brush trucks and a UTV.
"The fire did not threaten the community or any structures due to the early notification and quick response."
