OGDEN, Utah, Nov. 23, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Ogden City Police officials have removed a video posted early Saturday asking the public to help identify a male and female caught on surveillance video during an altercation.
The male was seen grabbing the female, forcing her to the ground and dragging her away.
“The video depicted a highly concerning altercation between a man and a young woman,” the OCPD statement says. “After receiving significant feedback and tips, we would like to provide an update on the case.
“This morning, the man depicted in the video contacted the department to identify himself and provide additional context. He identified the female in the video as his juvenile daughter. Officers responded to his residence to investigate further. His daughter was found safe and in good health.”
Police interviewed both parties, and reported that it appears “the recording captured the moment the male grabbed and detained his daughter as she was attempting to run away. At the time the video was recorded, his daughter had already been missing for several hours. Given our confirmation that the female in the video is a juvenile, we’ve removed it from our social media account.
“The Ogden Police Department is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all community members, and we are committed to fully investigating all aspects of this incident before determining the proper course of action. Our efforts will include involvement of and cooperation with public safety partners, including DCFS and the prosecutor’s office.”
The statement also thanked citizens “for your vigilance and cooperation. Your willingness to engage with law enforcement helps us protect and serve more effectively. Because this case is still being actively investigated, no additional details will be released at this time.”
