OGDEN, Utah, July 30, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — The bicyclist killed Monday when he was struck by a dump truck has been identified by Ogden City police.

The victim was 31-year-old Charlie Hodgson.

The incident happened at 6:15 a.m. at the intersection of 12th Street and Wall Avenue.

“Upon arrival, it was discovered that the male on the bicycle was deceased,” says an earlier OCPD statement.

“Through investigation, Police found that the dump truck had been traveling northbound on Wall Avenue when he turned east on 12th Street.”

Hogdson, on his bicycle, was traveling east through the crosswalk intersection. The dump truck driver, a man in his mid 50s, “did not notice the bicycle crossing through the intersection and struck the bicyclist,” the police statement says, adding the investigation is ongoing.
