OGDEN, Utah, March 18, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The Ogden Police Department has identified the elderly man killed in a single-car crash early Friday evening at 16th Street and Washington Boulevard.

The victim was California resident Gene Roy Stanley, 76. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

His passengers, a 74-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man, were transported to the hospital in serious but stable condition. All three were members of the same family.

Ogden City Police Lt. Brian Eynon said the accident occurred at 5:20 p.m., when a Chevrolet Sonic traveling northbound on Washington Boulevard veered out of the traffic lane toward the sidewalk and crashed into a tree.

Eynon said Friday night that the cause of the crash is still under investigation, but police don’t suspect drugs or alcohol were involved.

One potential cause under investigation is that the driver may have suffered a medical incident.
