OGDEN, Utah, Oct. 8, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — The Ogden City Police Department has arrested a local man in connection with the death of his infant daughter.

Michael Lee Hatton on Friday was booked into the Weber County Jail following an incident five days earlier.

Investigators say at about 6 p.m. Oct. 2, Ogden City Police and Ogden City Emergency Medical services responded to a report of an eight-week old girl, Avery Hatton, who had stopped breathing.

Avery’s mother and a roommate were rushing her to the hospital, and pulled over in the 3200 block of Harrison Boulevard to meet emergency responders. They had come from an apartment in the 1400 block of Brinker Avenue, in Ogden, where Avery lived with her mother and father, according to police.

The infant was transported to Primary Children’s Medical Center, in Salt Lake City, where she died from her injuries.

An investigation determined physical abuse led to Avery’s death. Michael Lee Hatton was arrested Friday on suspicion of criminal homicide. He was booked into the Weber County Jail.

Detectives are still gathering information on this active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective T. Gerfen at 801-629-8477 or [email protected].
