Ogden fire crews contain commercial structure fire Friday night

OGDEN, Utah, March 10, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Firefighters responded to the scene of a commercial structure fire at GSC Foundries, 2738 S. Commerce Way, on Friday. The building houses an aluminum foundry.

According to information from the Ogden Fire Department, the fire was called in at approximately 6:08 p.m.

Everyone had safely evacuated the building before firefighters arrived.

Crews used a metal-extinguishing agent to put out the fire, which was contained to a manufacturing section of the building.

Shortly after 7 p.m., the fire was completely out and crews were performing overhaul duties and ventilating the building.

No one was injured in this fire.

Nineteen firefighters from Ogden City and Roy Fire Departments responded with two ladder trucks, three engines, an ambulance and a paramedic rescue.

Damage to machinery and the foundry metal fabrication plant structure is estimated at $400,000, according to a fire department tweet.

The fire is under investigation and the cause is currently unknown.
