OGDEN, Utah, Oct. 13, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — An early morning garage fire in Ogden ended up causing $600,000 in damages, according to the Ogden Fire Department.
Residents of the home were reportedly awakened by pets. The initial call came to dispatch at 12:46 a.m., according to tweets from the Ogden Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the scene, at 1755 E. Whispering Oaks Drive, and reported heavy smoke and flames from the garage of the home.
Crews took the offense in fighting the fire, but at 1:07 a.m., switched to a defensive strategy, remaining outside the structure as they doused the blaze. The fire was declared under control at about 2 a.m., and overhaul and salvage operations began.
The OFD reported the loss-stop benchmark was at 3:04 a.m., according to a department tweet.
The home’s occupants and pets escaped injury, but were displaced due to the amount of damage to the residence.
