Ogden house fire causes $80K in damages

OGDEN, Utah, Jan. 2, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Firefighters responded to a structure fire early Monday evening at 2250 S. Jackson Ave.

According to information on Twitter from the Ogden Fire Department, crews were dispatched at 5:21 p.m. Upon arrival, they found the rear of the home fully involved, and fire in the roof on two sides of the building.

Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire in the attic and then were able to enter the home to extinguish the rest of the blaze. The fire was out shortly after 6 p.m., and crews began performing salvage and overhaul duties.

Everyone in the home evacuated, and there were no injuries. The American Red Cross was called to assist the displaced occupants.

A power line was down in the backyard, and the utility companies were notified to take care of the downed line and secure all utilities.

Fifteen firefighters responded from Ogden City Fire Department with two ladder trucks, one engine, one paramedic rescue, an ambulance and the battalion chief.

The cause of the fire has not been determined, and is under investigation by the office of the Ogden City Fire Department Fire Marshal.

Damage to the structure is estimated at $80,000.
