According to the Utah Highway Patrol, Joseph D. Stakely, age 33, was traveling at a high rate of speed on westbound on I-84 when he suddenly lost control of his vehicle.

Troopers say the truck plunged into the river bed, striking a railroad bridge abutment before landing on its side.

The crash site was discovered around 8 a.m., but investigators say it’s unclear when the accident happened.

They say Stakely was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash.
