Ogden man remains unconscious after weekend park beating

OGDEN, Utah, Nov. 30, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A 57-year-old Ogden man has remained unconscious since Saturday, when he was found beaten in a park.
Ogden police said in a Facebook post that at approximately 4:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of an assault at Jefferson Park, at 3300 Grant Ave.
They located an unconscious victim, who was transported by the Ogden Fire Department to an area hospital. The victim’s name has not been released pending notification of his family.
Officers located suspect Michael Gomez in the park, and took him into police custody. Gomez was booked into the Weber County Jail for public intoxication and aggravated assault.

Ogden Police Major Crimes Investigators believe there may have been witnesses in the park at the time of the assault who left before police arrived. Anyone with information is asked to contact Major Crimes Detective Travis Kearl at 801-629-8029.
