Ogden police, family ID body found outside church on freezing New Year’s morning

OGDEN, Utah, Jan. 8, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Ogden police and family members have identified the woman whose body was found outside a church on New Year’s Day.

The woman was 46-year-old Frances Gomez.

Ogden Police Department Lt. Will Farr told Gephardt Daily the woman was found deceased near the First Baptist Church of Ogden at 2519 Jefferson Ave. at approximately 10:15 a.m. Farr said there were no signs of trauma.

As of Monday, it was unknown in the temperature, 10 degrees the night before, had played a role in her death.

A GoFundMe page designated as a fundraiser for burial costs described Gomez as the adoring mother of three.

“On New Year’s morning, our beautiful Frances, a daughter of the Most High King, was rescued from the coldness of this earth and was welcomed in to the warmth of the loving arms of her good, good Father, Jesus,” the page says.

“She leaves behind three incredible sons whom she adored and eight young grandchildren. Her passing was tragic and unexpected. While we know her soul is joyfully at rest. Her children are requesting your assistance with laying her body to rest.

“On behalf of my nephews, please consider making any contribution to help lay my sister to rest. Thank you to those who have helped already and  most especially thank you for your continued prayers. — the Gomez, Tiznado and Martinez families.”
