Police Identify Suspect Injured In Ogden Officer Involved Shooting

OGDEN, Utah, May 25, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have identified a man injured in an officer involved shooting in Ogden last Friday.

Officers with the Ogden Metro Gang Unit were looking for 31-year-old Emanuel Isaac Montoya of Ogden, a documented Ogden Trece gang member, and found him in the driveway of a home located at 3105 Grant Avenue.

Montoya was wanted in connection to an aggravated assault involving a gun and for fleeing from police. Detectives approached Montoya in an effort to apprehend him when an altercation resulted in an officer firing his weapon at Montoya.

Montoya was taken into custody and transported to a the hospital with non-life threatening wounds. On Wednesday, he was released from the hospital and booked into the Weber County jail for felony warrants including evading police, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a restricted person stemming from incidents prior to the officer involved shooting.

The incident is being independently investigated by the Weber County Attorney’s Office and further details will be released once the investigation has been completed.
