OGDEN, Utah, Jan. 18, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A 23-year-old man was arrested Tuesday and charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnapping and assault of a woman from Ogden.

Ogden Police said in a news release officers responded to 456 26th St. after a 52-year-old woman reported she had just been victim to an aggravated robbery.

The victim told police she attempted to assist a young man in the area. The suspect, later identified as Dayton Rogers, looked distressed and in need of assistance, she said. As she attempted to speak with Rogers, he entered the passenger side of her vehicle and demanded she drive him around. Rogers reportedly threatened her with a gun to follow his demands.

The victim attempted to leave her vehicle, but Rogers physically restrained her and would not allow her to leave. She attempted to flee her vehicle a second time, this time successfully, and she ran from the suspect. Rogers chased her and attempted to detain her again. She physically fought with Rogers until she was able to free herself. She ran back to her vehicle and drove away. Rogers fled the area on foot, and was located by officers within minutes.

Further investigation revealed probable cause to charge Rogers with aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnapping and assault. Rogers was booked into the Weber County Jail.

Neither the victim nor Rogers were seriously injured during the incident.
