FAIRVIEW, Utah, June 9, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — One person is dead after two cars collided north of Fairview Thursday afternoon, and authorities are looking to impairment as a factor in the crash.

The victim has been identified as Bobbie Baker, 52, from Fairview, Utah Highway Patrol said in a news release.

A 1999 Chevrolet Prizm was traveling south on SR-89 near milepost 285 and a 2013 Cadillac was traveling north in the same location, the news release said, when the Prizm drifted off the right shoulder of the road and over-corrected left into the path of the Cadillac. The Cadillac then hit the passenger side of the Prizm with minimal braking.

Baker, the driver of the Prizm, was wearing a seat belt, but due to the major impact, died on scene.

The occupants of the Cadillac suffered serious injuries.
