89-year-old man killed in Carbon County crash during heavy snow storm

WELLINGTON, Utah, Jan. 12, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — An 89-year-old Wellington man is dead after the vehicle he was driving was broadsided by a pickup truck on State Route 6 Wednesday during heavy snow storm.

A silver Buick Century driven by Jose R. Jaramillo was entering SR-6 from 900 East in Wellington at mile post 248 just after 10:40 a.m., according to a news release from the Utah Highway Patrol.

An eastbound vehicle, a white Toyota Tundra, was unable to stop and struck the Buick broadside. Jaramillo was alone in the vehicle and was killed on impact.

Snow had accumulation on the roadway, the UHP statement noted.
