FILLMORE, Utah, May 26, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The victim of a fatal motorcycle crash Friday near Fillmore on Interstate 15 has been identified.

Randi L. Mahas, 36, of Ogden, died at the scene.

Utah Highway Patrol reported that a 37-year-old man and Mahas, his passenger, were riding a black 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle southbound on I-15 at about 12:15 p.m. As they passed exit 158 near Meadow, they encountered a dip in the road.

A UHP news release states the motorcycle developed a high-speed wobble that the driver was unable to recover from. The motorcycle started weaving and then tipped on its side and skidded to a stop.

Both the man and Mahas were thrown from the motorcycle. Neither was wearing a helmet, and the woman was fatally injured.

The driver of the motorcycle sustained critical injuries. He was transported to Fillmore Community Hospital by ground ambulance and then was flown by medical helicopter to Utah Valley Hospital.

The male driver is from Farr West, according to UHP. His name has not been released.
