One Person Critically Injured After American Fork Shoplifting, Car Chase

AMERICAN FORK, Utah, May 9, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — One person was is in critical condition Monday afternoon after a shoplifting incident in American Fork led to a car crash, police said.

Sgt. Spencer Cannon, Utah County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, said police responded to a theft call at C-A-L Ranch, 175 N. State St., at approximately 3 p.m. Monday.

Cannon said the two individuals involved fled the store, and police followed their vehicle from State Street onto Main Street. The shoplifters then crashed the car.

Police took one person into custody, and one person was critically injured, Cannon said.

He said it was not immediately clear whether the person with life-threatening injuries was one of the shoplifters or a bystander.
