OREM, Utah, June 26, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — An Orem man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly had sexual relations with a teen multiple times, including at a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse.

A probable cause statement from Utah County said Christopher Jeremy Prue, 27, is facing two counts of child kidnapping and eight counts of rape of a child. All are first-degree felonies.

Tuesday at approximately 11:30 a.m., the Division of Child and Family Services and a detective with the Lone Peak Police Department met with the 17-year-old alleged victim at the Children’s Justice Center in Provo. The victim was interviewed by the DCFS case worker.

“The victim disclosed that he had met the suspect, Christopher Prue, online through a Pokemon game around 2014 when he was 12 years old,” the statement said. “Soon after Mr. Prue picked up the victim at his home and drove him to a parking lot nearby.”

The statement said the two allegedly had sexual relations in the backseat of his vehicle, which the victim described as a black sedan. Prue owns a black Nissan Altima.

The victim also said that Prue met with him at an LDS church near his home and they had sexual relations in the church and several more times at the victim’s home. The victim estimated that he and Prue had sexual relations approximately eight times between summer 2014 and spring 2018. It allegedly began when the victim was 12 years old and ended with he was 16 years old.

The arresting officer responded to Prue’s home in Orem with his probation officers and took him into custody.

After being read his Miranda rights, Prue said he would speak with officers. He was transported to the Lone Peak Police Department where he was interviewed.

“Prue admitted to me that he did have sexual relations with the victim since he was 12 years old and advised that he knew the victim’s age,” the statement said. “Mr. Prue advised that it was only four or five times he had sexual relations with the victim and advised that it ended sometime in 2016.”

The arresting officer wrote it should be noted that Prue had been allegedly texting and Instagramming the victim to meet up as recently as Tuesday.

“According to Mr. Prue, he admitted reaching out to the victim today, however he advised that he wanted to do lunch and or a movie with him.”

Prue’s probation officers took custody of his phone, computer tower and thumb drive for further investigation.

The arresting officer added the victim is usually home alone and told officials he “is very afraid of Mr. Prue showing up at his home.”

Prue is already on probation for a similar incident with a male under 18 years of age.

He is being held in Utah County Jail with no bail.
