OREM, Utah, Aug. 4, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police were called to the scene of a fatal motorcycle accident Saturday night in Orem.

Orem City Police Lt. Craig Martinez said a 23-year-old male – a citizen of Saudi Arabia – was killed in the crash which happened around 9:45 p.m. near 300 S. State St.

According to Martinez, two motorcyclists were headed south on State St. when the driver of a Ford Expedition pulled in front of them.

The rider who was killed hit the Ford Expedition broadside and died at the scene.

The other motorcyclist managed to avoid the crash.

Investigators believe the bikers were traveling between 60 and 70 mph, approximately 20 mph higher than the posted speed limit, at the time of the accident. They also said impairment did not appear to be a factor.

Drivers were being asked to avoid the area for several hours while officers processed the accident site.
