OREM, Utah, Sept. 18, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Not every country bear lost in the city would know where to go for assistance.

But the bear that visited Orem on Wednesday morning was not your average bear.

“Who says you have to go to the mountains to see a bear,” says a Facebook post by the Orem Police Department.

“This fella was spotted wandering the streets of Orem this morning. He eventually climbed a tree in front of the police station.”

Officials from the Division of Wildlife Resources were called in. They responded and sedated the animal.

“They will be taking him elsewhere,” the Orem Police post says. “Maybe instead of your next trip to the zoo, you can just come to the police station to see some wildlife.”

Hundreds of public comments on the post included several from people who said they had driven by and assumed fire trucks were there to rescue a treed cat. A few expressed gratitude that the bear was relocated rather than euthanized, and at least two were from people who said they had just returned from Yellowstone trips without seeing a single bear and should have just stayed home.
