PAYSON, Utah, May 9, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A Payson policeman who worked as a high school resource officer has been placed on administrative leave after allegations that he had an improper relationship with a 17-year-old student.

Officer Glen Carlson, 46, was asked in a warrant to surrender his cell phone, computer hard drive, emails and photos to the Pleasant Grove Police Department, which is investigating the case to avoid a conflict of interest for the Payson Police Department.

Suspicions were raised in April by the mother of the 17-year-old girl, a student at Payson High School.

According to the mother of the alleged victim, her daughter told her that she loves the officer, and they will be together when she turns 18, the warrant says. The daughter allegedly told her mother she kissed Carlson and had sex with him, the court document says.

When interviewed, Carlson told officials he had no physical relationship with the teen, but had given her rides home once or twice, and tried to be a supportive friend.

Several officers and individuals interviewed reported seeing Carlson in public, outside school hours, wearing street clothes, with a teenager girl in the car.

The investigation is ongoing.
