MIDVALE, Utah, April 11, 2023 (Gephardt Daily) — A pedestrian was extremely critically injured when he was hit by a truck in Midvale Tuesday morning.

The crash happened in the area of 180 W. 7200 South at 7:31 a.m., according to a statement from Unified Police Sgt. Melody Cutler.

The pedestrian was northbound on the west side of the intersection. A work truck was headed east in the center lane.

“Work truck is headed eastbound in the center lane. The light for eastbound westbound traffic is red. Witnesses state the truck ran the light striking the pedestrian. The driver of the truck did remain on scene and is cooperative.”

The victim is a 45-year-old man, Cutler said.

“He is currently in extremely critical condition. The cart team, crash analysis reconstruction team is investigating. No obvious signs of impairment, however, that is a normal part of the investigation. We do believe the sun may have been a factor.”
