Pelican Fire burning on west side of Utah Lake burns 250 acres

UTAH COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 4, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A wildfire burning on the west side of Utah Lake has burned just over 250 acres as of Sunday morning, officials said.

Utah Fire Info tweeted Saturday afternoon that the Bureau of Land Management and the state of Utah are responding to the Pelican Fire.

A follow-up tweet said rain was falling on the blaze and fire activity was slowing.

The latest update on Twitter then said: “Helicopter flying the #PelicanFire measured acreage at 251. Estimated 50 percent containment. Crews will remain on scene until full containment.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
