Person of interest being questioned after suspected arson fire in Weber County

WEBER COUNTY, Utah, June 3, 2021 (Gephardt Daily) — The Weber County Sheriff’s Office is questioning a person of interest after a suspected arson fire Thursday.

“On June 3, 2021 the Weber County Sheriff’s Office responded to a suspicious fire along the trail system near 1900 W. and 1500 South, in West Haven,” a WCSO statement says. “Weber Fire District also responded to the scene and quickly put out the fire.

“Through the initial investigation, it appears the fire was set intentionally. Deputies have identified a person of interest who is currently being interviewed. At this time, we are not releasing the subject name, as he is just a person of interest.”

The case remains under investigation, the statement says.

“No one was injured, and no property was damaged in the fire. We would like to thank the quick action of the Weber Fire District in containing this fire so quickly.”
