SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 8, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A pickup truck driver who was hit by a TRAX train Friday afternoon was taken to a hospital for treatment.

According to Utah Transit Authority spokesman Carl Arky, the woman was at about 1300 W. North Temple when she made an illegal left turn in front of the train.

Her truck was dragged an estimated 60 feet before the train could stop, Arky said.

The 65-year-old driver, alone in her pickup, was originally trapped in the vehicle. Once she was freed, first responders took her directly to University Hospital to be treated for injuries that turned out to be minor, Arky said.

Arky said no injuries were reported by anyone on the TRAX train, and that the TRAX schedule resumed as usual.
