UTAH COUNTY, Utah, Oct. 14, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — The Utah County Sheriff’s Office said that a pickup truck ignited for an unknown reason Sunday afternoon and started a wildfire in the Manti-La Sal National Forest.
“A 19 year old man and a 17 year old girl were in a pickup truck on Dry Canyon Road in the Manti-La Sal National Forest in The Birdseye area in Utah County when the pickup caught fire and started a wildfire,” UCSO posted on Facebook shortly before 8 p.m.
No injuries were reported.
The fire started at about 5 p.m. and was three to five acres in size, Utah County Fire Inspector Randy Crowther said, according to the FB post.
Fire trucks from the U.S. Forest Service, Utah County, Salem, Spanish Fork, and the State of Utah responded to extinguish the fire, near the site of the 2018 Pole Creek Fire, the sheriff’s office said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation
