Pickup truck’s transmission falls out, starts grass fire in Box Elder County

BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah, Sept. 2, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A fire on northbound Interstate 15 near milepost 385 slowed traffic for awhile Monday evening, but is now contained and the scene is  expected to be cleared by about 8:30 p.m.

The blaze was reported at about 7:50 p.m.

Utah Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Colton Freckleton told Gephardt Daily the brush fire in the median started when a “Ford pickup truck lost its transmission, which fell out and started the fire.”

No one was injured, and UHP was making sure that traffic got through the area safely.
