UTAH COUNTY, Utah, Aug. 12, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Pleasant Grove man is being held without bail after the alleged sexual abuse of two children, a boy and a girl.
A probable cause statement from Utah County said Lincoln Gygi, 30, is facing charges of five counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child — person in a position of trust, a first-degree felony; and 10 counts of lewdness involving a child, a class A misdemeanor.
“Officers received a report of a delayed sex offense involving two children that occurred approximately three years ago,” the statement said. “A Children’s Justice Center interview was conducted with one of the children. During the interview, the child disclosed that Lincoln Gygi had dared the two children to take their clothes off and run around naked.”
She said this occurred many times. She also said Gygi also had her take off her clothes and lay in bed on top of him. She said this occurred more than once. She also said Gygi had her touch him inappropriately and also that she believed he touched her inappropriately once “but she couldn’t remember details clearly.”
Detectives then interviewed the other child, a boy. He said Gygi had the boy and the girl take off their clothes and run around naked many times.
Officers made contact with Gygi Thursday and he was transported to the Orem Police
Department where he was interviewed. Gygi was advised of his Miranda rights and agreed to speak with detectives. The suspect said he knew he was there to discuss the girl and the boy.
Gygi said “he felt bad” that the boy had to warn him about a month ago that police had been contacted about the situation.
“Lincoln did confirm that he and the two children had engaged in ‘dares’ or ‘challenges’ which involved all of them taking off their clothes and running around naked,” the statement said.
“He went on to say that this was done under the guise of a game or while playing soccer if a goal wasn’t scored or something similar.” Gygi said this occurred between 10 and 20 times.
Gygi also said he had in fact had the girl “get naked and then would lay in bed naked with her.” He said there was skin to skin contact and this happened three times. He also said he had her touch him inappropriately, and that he touched her inappropriately.
Gygi said he did not recall if he ever touched the boy inappropriately.
He said he estimated the alleged abuse went on for approximately one year.
The probable cause statement did not say the age of the children when the alleged abuse occurred.
Gygi is being held in the Utah County Jail.
