SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Dec. 24, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — A man and woman were arrested after reports that they were stealing items and making fraudulent returns in Kohl’s department store in Brickyard.

The incident occurred Friday just before 3:15 p.m., the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release.

Officers responded after reports that the two were stealing items and returning them, the news release said.

“An officer observed the two suspects walking west on 3300 South and attempted to detain them,” the news release said. “As the officer made contact, the female was compliant, but the male would not follow directions and began to run away.”

An assisting officer apprehended Jeffrey Boynton, 44, a block away. Boynton was booked into jail for retail theft, fleeing and possession of a controlled substance. The woman was released on a citation.
