Police: 2 men in custody after aggravated kidnapping in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Aug. 24, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Two men are in custody after an aggravated kidnapping in Salt Lake City early Thursday morning.

The Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release that a 911 call came in at about 1:40 p.m. from a male juvenile claiming that he and another male juvenile were tied up, beaten, and feared they would be killed.

When officers arrived at the address, near 200 W. Gander Lane, they found the victims and suspects in an open garage.

According to victim statements they group met at the residence to discuss a debt.

“The victims told officers the suspects jumped them and tied them up with weed eater wire,” the news release said. “The victims were pistol whipped and had gasoline poured on them.

The victims were transported to a local hospital for injuries.

Officers booked Fernando Molina, 20, from California, into jail for kidnapping, aggravated assault and transaction of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person.

The second suspect, 20-year-old, Oscar Eduardo Godinez-Juarez, also from California, was booked Wednesday afternoon on the same felony counts as Molina.
