Police arrest suspect after robbery at Zions Bank

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Aug. 23, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have arrested a man who robbed a Zions Bank Thursday morning.

Detective Keith Horrocks, Salt Lake City Police Department, says the suspect was arrested near North Temple and 800 West, about 45 minutes after the robbery of the bank, at 400 South and 700 East.

“At 9:45, we got a call for a hold up alarm,” Horrocks told Gephardt Daily. “A man had robbed the bank, taking an unknown amount of money at that time.”

The bank was able to provide clear surveillance images.

“The bank had really good pictures,” Horrocks said. “They (police) were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody, and they are questioning him.”

Horrocks said it is possible the suspect was waiting for a TRAX train to make his escape.

“Yesterday’s robber was located near the TRAX platform as well,” he said.

Horrocks said the suspect did not have a weapon. The man’s name will not be released unless he is charged.
