COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, UTAH – October 5, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – Cottonwood Heights Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect who sexually assaulted a juvenile.

Officials said a juvenile female was running along 2700 East between 7000 South and 7100 South on Monday, September 28 around 7:30 pm. As she was running, a male suspect appeared from behind a fence and confronted her. The suspect forcibly groped the victim as she attempted to pass him.

The victim told the suspect to stop and was able to get away from him and ran away. She watched the suspect run in the opposite direction and disappear.

Officers arrived in the area within three minutes and deployed a K-9. The dog located a track but did not find the suspect.

The suspect is described as a white male, 20-30 years old, about 6’2” tall and weighing 215 pounds. The suspect was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt so the victim was not able to see his hair, but she said he had a full beard that was red. Below is a composite sketch of the suspect.

Currently, this is an isolated incident and there are no other known victims.

Anyone with information on this case can contact Det. Dan Morzelewski at 801.944.7047 or dispatch at 801.840.4000. Please reference CHPD case 15X005793.
