PROVO, Utah, Jan. 30, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — A Bountiful man was arrested late Tuesday evening after police say he nearly struck three officers in a stolen car while high on meth.

A probable cause statement from Utah County said Jeffrey Kenneth Sudweeks, 35, is facing five charges of third-degree felony aggravated assault, third-degree felony failure to stop or respond at the command of police, three counts of class B misdemeanor criminal mischief, class B misdemeanor reckless driving, class B misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, class B misdemeanor interference with an arresting officer, class C misdemeanor failure to remain at the scene of an accident, class C misdemeanor giving false personal identity to an officer, class C misdemeanor driving on a suspended or revoked license and infraction speeding.

Officers responded to an address in Provo on Tuesday to investigate a suspicious vehicle called in by a citizen.

“While officers were speaking with the driver of the vehicle, he turned the vehicle on and attempted to flee,” the probable cause statement said. “While attempting to flee he struck a police officer’s vehicle. The driver failed to comply with commands of police to stop the vehicle.”

The driver continued his attempt to flee, almost striking three police officers with the vehicle, the statement said.

“The driver then struck a building and then struck the police vehicle a second time. The driver then led officers on a pursuit where he nearly hit multiple vehicles and broke numerous traffic laws. The driver eventually stopped and surrendered himself.”

It was found that the vehicle that the suspect fled in was stolen out of Pleasant Grove.

The driver, identified as Sudweeks, had multiple warrants, admitted to being under the influence of methamphetamine and gave false information to officers.

Sudweeks was booked into Utah County Jail with his bail set at $25,000.
