WEST JORDAN, Utah, Sept. 30, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — A man is in critical condition after police say he was stabbed by his brother following a verbal argument.

Sgt. Joe Monson, West Jordan Police Department, said the stabbing happened at about 12:30 a.m. Friday at an address near 6300 W. Copper Dust Lane.

Monson said the two brothers, age 28 and 37, were arguing at their mother’s house before the younger brother stabbed the older brother.

According to the arrest fact sheet, the “defendant was involved in a verbal dispute with his brother and mother over personal issues. (The) defendant proceeded to the kitchen area of the home and obtained a kitchen knife from the butcher block.

“(The) defendant  located his brother in the home and attacked him with the knife, stabbing him multiple times. (The) defendant admitted post-Miranda he intended to ‘kill’ his brother, and that was his intent during the attack.”

The victim suffered life-threatening injuries, according to the arrest fact sheet.

“The suspect is Jesse Wade, and he was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on aggravated assault with substantial bodily injury,” Monson said. “The older brother was taken to the hospital, and is in critical but stable condition.”

Jesse Wade was taken into custody without incident.

“The victim and the suspect were waiting in the front yard when we came,” Monson said. “I think they were aware we were coming.”

Money was a topic of the argument, Monson said.
