Police: Elderly woman pulled to the ground in SLC park, purse stolen

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Jan. 2, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — An elderly woman was pulled to the ground and had her purse stolen while walking in a Salt Lake City park Saturday afternoon, officials said.

The woman was walking through Hidden Hollow Park at 1229 E. Wilmington Ave. just after 3:30 p.m. when she was approached from behind by two men, the Salt Lake City Police Department said in a news release.

“The males suddenly grabbed her purse and attempted to flee,” the news release said. “The victim attempted to hold on to her purse but was pulled to the ground at which time she lost her purse.”

The victim was not injured, officials said.

The suspects were both described as black males, 16-20 years old, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, one of whom was wearing a gray hoodie. They were last seen fleeing the area on foot.
