Police ID female victim of Tuesday’s double shooting in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Nov. 27, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City Police have released the name of a woman killed in a double shooting Tuesday night.

She been identified as 56-year-old Leticia Smith.

“Detectives remained on scene until the early hours of the morning,” says a tweet issued Wednesday by the Salt Lake City Police Department.

“This is still a very active investigation, however there are no outstanding suspects. Anyone with information please contact 801-799-3000, reference case 19-223010.”

Police arrived at the scene, at the Windsor Park Apartments, 1798 W. 700 North, after a “shots fired” call just before 9 p.m. Tuesday. They found woman, now identified as Smith, and a man, both with gunshot wounds.

According to police on scene, the man had been shot in the head and the woman had a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Both were transported to area hospitals in extremely critical condition.

Police have not released the identity or status of the male.

So far, the police are working on the possibility that the incident involved a domestic dispute.
