Police ID Salt Lake City man killed in East Canyon motorcycle crash

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, September 30, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — The Unified Police Department has released the name of the motorcyclist killed late Friday afternoon in East Canyon.

According to Unified Police Lt. Brian Lohrke, Salt Lake City resident Alex Russell Ferrell, 57, was fatally injured when his motorcycle left the roadway and traveled 40 to 50 yards into the canyon below.   

Unified Fire Authority medical personnel responded to the scene and began treating Ferrell.

He was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead a short while later.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

  1. Condolences to his family – rest in Peace . I know it’s a feeling hard to discribe the freedom of riding a motorcycle but I honestly am afraid driving even in a car ! I have to drive Parley’s canyon and it’s like death race 2017 !
