Police ID victim, suspected gunman in fatal shooting in South Salt Lake

SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, March 3, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting Saturday morning in South Salt Lake, and have named the suspect taken into custody.

Dead at the scene was 24-year-old Patrick Andrews, of South Salt Lake. Police have arrested 20-year-old Isaiah Lucas in the case. Lucas has been booked into the Salt Lake County Jail and charged with:

  • Aggravated murder, a first-degree felony
  • Aggravated assault, a second-degree felony
  • Three counts of felony discharge of a firearm, a first-degree felony

The charges will be screened by the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office for formal charges.

Police were dispatched at 3:36 a.m. to a shooting at the Mountain Shadow Apartments, at 3700 South and 700 West.

Upon arrival, they discovered two men with gunshot wounds. One was pronounced dead at the scene and the other man was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

A short time later, a woman who was also at the same apartment arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound.

The two who were hospitalized are in stable condition. Police describe them as a 25-year-old man from Sunset and an 18-year-old woman from Murray.
