SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, May 23, 2016 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City police bomb squad investigated a suspicious package left on a UTA TRAX train near downtown Monday morning.

“Our operator was performing his normal check of the cab, walking up and down the cab, and when he did that, he noticed a suspicious package sitting between the seats,” UTA spokesperson Remi Baron said. “When that happens, due diligence has to be done and precautions have to be taken.”

Barron said the item was not just a purse or bag, but something that just didn’t look right.

The bomb squad arrived on scene at the Central TRAX station located at 300 S. 600 West.

The robot pulled the package from the TRAX train at the Intermodal hub, then took the package just to the south and a bomb technician detonated it. It has been deemed non-explosive.

The TRAX line was closed near the Clark Planetarium, which is located at 110 S. 400 West.
