SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, March 27, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — A 25-year-old man was stabbed Monday night in what police are saying is possibly a gang-related incident.
Salt Lake City Police Lt. Justin Hudson said the victim was walking in the area of 1784 W. 400 North at about 6:47 p.m. when a car pulled up and two or three men got out and had words with the victim.
The incident took place near a small playground, and several people witnessed the interaction before realizing that the victim had been stabbed in the back, Hudson said.
The man was transported to the hospital in stable condition.
Witnesses described the suspects as Hispanic males, in their teens or early 20s, wearing black and red clothing. They were said to be driving a light-colored, possibly tan, full-size passenger car, possibly a low-rider.
Hudson said the incident is under investigation and detectives have been interviewing the victim and witnesses.
Anyone who has any information about this incident or the identity of the suspects is asked to call Salt Lake City Police dispatch at 801-799-3000.
