SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah, Oct. 14, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Police were investigating two crime scenes overnight Friday, after three people were stabbed in South Salt Lake.

SSLPD Sgt. Matthew Oehler said police received a call shortly before midnight about a stabbing at 7-Eleven, 2102 S. State St.

Arriving officers found three victims — two males and a female, all adults — with apparent stab wounds.

“We’re still working on names and ages,” Oehler said. “We’re trying to determine exactly what happened.”

All three victims were transported to area hospitals. One was in critical condiiton, and two were in stable condition.

Oehler said investigators were working at two active crime scenes, one at a residence near the 7-Eleven and another at the 7-Eleven itself.

“At this point in time, we don’t believe the public or anyone else is in danger. We’re just trying to ascertain as much information as we can,” he added.

When asked if the stabbings may have been part of a drug deal gone wrong, Oehler said the precipitating circumstances are “totally unknown at this point.”

“We may have an outstanding suspect. At this point, we don’t know.”

He said investigators are not aware of any third-party witnesses, but if anyone did see the stabbings or has any information about the incidents, they are encouraged to call South Salt Lake Police at 801-840-4000.

In addition to SSLPD, Oehler said Unified Police Department’s forensics team is assisting in the investigation.
