WEST JORDAN, UTAH – September 19, 2015 (Gephardt Daily) – West Jordan police are on the scene of a mysterious death inside a family home at 7050 West 1300 South.

According to West Jordan Police Lt. Bob Schober, officers were called to the home around 5:30 p.m. Saturday to check on a bedridden woman who was not answering the phone.

When police arrived, the woman told them her son’s girlfriend had been helping her earlier in the day and feared she may have fallen down the stairs in another part of the residence.

Officers quickly searched the home and found a 30-year-old woman deceased at the bottom of the staircase.

As of 9 p.m. Saturday night, police did not know the definitive cause of death and were trying to determine if there was a connection to a domestic violence call they responded to at the home earlier in the day. Police say the deceased woman had been involved in an altercation with her boyfriend Saturday, but was checked out by EMTs and did appear to require further medical attention.

The boyfriend, whose identity was not released, was arrested and jailed at the time of the incident, and investigators say he remained behind bars Saturday night.

An autopsy is expected to be performed to determine an exact cause of death.

The police investigation is ongoing.
