OGDEN, Utah, Oct. 23, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police were at the scene of a possible aggravated assault Tuesday afternoon in central Ogden after they received multiple calls about an altercation between two men.

Officers responded at about 2:30 p.m. to 26th Street and Adams Avenue, where witnesses had reported “two males engaged in a verbal altercation in the area,” according to an Ogden Police Department news release issued Tuesday night.

“Shortly after, witnesses reported hearing multiple gun shots fired in the area. Upon arrival, officers found that no individuals had been injured and the suspects had fled the area,” the release states.

Witnesses thought one of the suspects had gone into a nearby apartment building, so a warrant was obtained and served by the Ogden Metro SWAT team.

No one was found inside the apartment, but police say they have the names of “persons of interest” in the case and will be following up with them.

Adams Avenue was closed to traffic between 25th and 26th streets while officers investigated, and a few concerned neighbors stood on porches and front steps further down the block. Most residents stayed inside, though.

The incident is still under investigation.

Gephardt Daily will update this story as more information is made available.
