Police investigate shooting at Syracuse home Wednesday night

SYRACUSE, Utah, April 12, 2017 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are investigating a shooting that occurred Wednesday at a home on Bluffridge Drive.

In a news release on Facebook, the Syracuse Police Department stated that a “shots fired” call was received at approximately 6 p.m. Police responded to 1850 Bluffridge Drive, where it was reported that the homeowner had received a call from family members who said someone was breaking into their home.

The owner came home and saw a male who he believed was trying to break into the house.

According to the Facebook post, as the homeowner and family members confronted the male, a shot was fired from a handgun.

Police say that, at this time, they believe the shot was fired by the homeowner’s 17-year-old son.

The 17-year-old suspect and the homeowner’s wife were taken to local hospitals with gunshot wounds that were not life-threatening, the release states.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time. They said there are no additional suspects and there is no danger to the community.
