SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Nov. 16, 2024 (Gephardt Daily) — Salt Lake City police officers are investigating fatal shootings at two separate locations early Saturday morning.
Police say at this point in the investigations, there are no indications the shootings are related.
The first shooting happened Friday at 11:40 p.m. and is believed to have stemmed from an earlier fight involving several people near 1045 East 2100 South.
One person was killed in that shooting, and a second critically wounded, according to a press release from the SLCPD PR Unit.
The second investigation began Saturday at 12 a.m. when police were notified of a shooting near 800 South Park Street.
Police say one person died at the scene of that shooting, while a second person, who was with the victim “went into a residence and has not come out,” despite prompting from police. His potential involvement in the shooting is unknown, the police press release said.
SLCPD homicide detectives have responded to both scenes.
