Police investigating after woman found with critical injuries in Salt Lake City street

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, Aug. 15, 2019 (Gephardt Daily) — Officials are investigating after a woman was found in critical condition in a Salt Lake City street Thursday morning.

Salt Lake City Police Sgt. Brandon Shearer told Gephardt Daily the incident was first reported as a possible traffic accident with injuries in the area of 1340 S. Jefferson St. at approximately 9:40 a.m.

When police arrived, they found a woman that was critically injured in the street, but there was no vehicle there.

Shearer said that at this time, it’s not clear if the woman was hit by a car or was assaulted. The woman has not yet been able to communicate with officers.

He added that a black Nissan SUV was seen leaving the area at that time, and detectives are gathering more evidence in order to locate that vehicle. At this time the license plate of that vehicle is not known and there is no description of the person driving it.
