Utah, Aug. 28, 2018 (Gephardt Daily) — Police are investigating whether two armed robberies at 7-Eleven convenience stores in West Valley and West Jordan in the early hours of Tuesday morning are connected.

West Valley City Police Department officials said the first robbery occurred at the 7-Eleven at 6407 W. 4100 South just before 2 a.m.

The clerk reported to police a man entered the store, pulled out a handgun and demanded money, officials said. She gave him money, and he demanded more, then grabbed some cigarettes and left the store.

The store clerk described the robber as Caucasian, about 5 feet 4 inches tall with a thin build, wearing a brown hoodie, tan pants and a mask over his face.

The second robbery occurred two hours later at the 7-Eleven at 6215 S. Dixie Drive (3500 West) in West Jordan, spokesman Sgt. J.C. Holt told Gephardt Daily. The two 7-Eleven stores are approximately six miles apart.

Holt said the suspect didn’t ask for money, but requested two packets of cigarettes.

When the clerk asked for the man’s ID, he pulled out a gun and said,”This is my ID,” Holt said. He then took the two packets of cigarettes and fled from the scene.

The suspect in the second robbery was described by the clerk as a man of average height and weight with a blue bandanna over his face.

Holt said officials believe the suspect fled in a vehicle, though they do not know the make or model at this stage.

No one was injured in the course of either incident.

Police are working to establish if there is a connection between the robberies and detectives are reviewing surveillance videos from the stores.

Anyone who has any information on either robbery is asked to contact West Valley Police Department at 801-840-4000 or West Jordan Police Department at 801-256-2000.
